About the Pattern for Girls Skirts

In order for you to make a good skirt, you must start with the skirt pattern. Skirt pattern depends on the type of fabric that you will use: it maybe a stretch fabric or a non-stretch fabric. But because the non-stretch fabric is the most common, we will focus here on the non-stretch fabric pattern.

One thing that you have to remember for the non-stretch fabric is that you have to put a zip on it so that you will be able to get it over the hips when you are dressing. The pattern will not include zips but the sewing instructions will explain to you how the zips will be included in the pattern. In a non-stretch fabric, its back is divided into three parts that divides evenly over the area of the butt. The seams keep the skirt more firmly in place around the butt and hips area. You have to make a waistband that is just a straight fabric that has a length the same as your waist. A waistband lengthens the back and front part of the girls skirts with the width of the waistband.

If the skirt pattern has no waistband, it is cut rather low on the hips. But if you want a slightly higher waistline without using a waistband, you will need to change the pattern that you will use.
